Carter Beauford

Now, I don't need to explain why Carter is still my most favorite drummer of all time.

Yeah, that guy is fucking awesome. Between his chops, his creativity, control, appropriateness, etc., it's hard to get much better. There are a lot of rock drummers I'd say I'm better than (even right now, having basically not played in years), but I only had a fraction of this guy's overall talent when I was at my best.

There is a part right after 2:10 (where the snare and the China are together) that sounds like it could be a double bass pedal, but it's not. (The visual proof is in the hi hat.) I doubt that he even has a double bass pedal. Most drummers suck whenever they try to incorporate double bass into their playing (which they do way too often). A few exceptions I can think of: Herb from Primus, Danny Carey (Tool), Dave Lombardo (Slayer). (Lars Ulrich fucking sucks!)

After watching the rest of the video, I see that he does use a double bass pedal. I'm surprised. Still, he actually knows how to use the thing.

I definintely should have included Alex Van Halen in the list of drummers with enough discipline to handle double bass. That double bass shuffle he plays during the intro to Hot for Teacher is one of the most fucking awesome riffs ever. (I forget, is "riff" applicable to drums?)

Tommy Lee should be on the list, too, probably, even though Motley Crue mostly sucked balls after Shout at the Devil (which is one of the rockin-assest records ever).
